Organised by Singapore’s leading media company MediaCorp, The Laurels is the annual awards recognizing Singapore’s favourite ads, with the aim of celebrating the works and contributions of advertisers, media and creative agencies in the media industry. Each year, the local audiences cast their votes for their favourite TV and radio commercials (previously known as Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice). This initiative has seen advertisers like Workplace Safety and Health Council, Tripartite Alliance for Fair Employment Practices (TAFEP), Health Promotion Board, Singapore Airlines and McDonald’s among others win the hearts of Singaporeans with their heartwarming and compelling advertisements.

This year, for the Public Voting Awards, two new awards have been introduced – Favourite Print Ad and Favourite Outdoor Campaign. For the Professional Awards category, there are three categories – Best Transmedia Campaign, Best Homegrown Award and Best of Show.

HOW IT WORKS
Qualifiers – Phase 1
For the qualifying period of 1 January to 31 December 2014, advertisers who spend a minimum of S$150,000 nett on MediaCorp television channels are eligible to submit their television commercials for the Favourite Television Commercial award. Advertisers who spend a minimum of S$50,000 nett on MediaCorp radio stations, TODAY newspaper, MediaCorp magazines or Out-of-Home (OOH) media platforms for the same qualifying period are eligible to submit their ads for the Favourite Radio Commercial, Favourite Print Ad and Favourite Outdoor Campaign respectively.

There is no minimum ad spend required to submit entries for Best Transmedia Campaign, however the campaign must have run on a minimum of two platforms which include MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH media and at least one other MediaCorp platform to be eligible. The campaign must also have run on MediaCorp platforms between 1 January to 31 December 2014.

Entries conceptualised locally for the Public Voting Awards will automatically qualify for Best Homegrown Award while all entries are eligible for Best of Show.

Finalists – Phase 2
Submitted entries will be assessed by a jury panel made up of professionals from Singapore’s top creative agencies who will pick five finalists for each of the Favourite Ad awards to go into public voting. They will also decide the winners of each of the three Professional Awards – Best Transmedia Campaign, Best Homegrown Award and Best of Show.

Public voting for the four Favourite Ad awards will take place from 1 to 28 March 2015.

The winners of The Laurels 2015 awards will be announced at the awards dinner in April.

Favourite Television Commercial
The winner of Favourite Television Commercial receives a Gold Trophy and S$50,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and a full page full colour ad in TODAY newspaper.

Favourite Radio Commercial
The winner of Favourite Radio Commercial receives a Gold Trophy and S$20,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp radio stations.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and a half page full colour ad in TODAY newspaper.

Favourite Print Ad
The winner of Favourite Print Ad receives a Gold Trophy and S$10,000 worth of bonus print media credits* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp magazines.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$3,000 worth of bonus print media credits* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp magazines.

Favourite Outdoor Campaign
The winner of Favourite Outdoor Campaign receives a Gold Trophy and S$10,000 worth of bonus OOH media credits* to be used on MediaCorp OOH platforms.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$3,000 worth of bonus OOH media credits* to be used on MediaCorp OOH platforms.

Best Transmedia Campaign
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.

Best Homegrown Award
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.
The winning media and creative agencies each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 cash.

Best of Show
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.
The winning media and creative agencies each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 cash.

*Valid for use within 3 months from the date of prize presentation and to be planned by the advertiser/media agency.
