ABOUT

Organised by Singapore’s leading media company MediaCorp, The Laurels is an annual search for Singapore’s favourite television and radio commercials, with the aim of showing support for the advertising industry by honouring advertisers, creative and media agencies for their work. This initiative has seen advertisers like Ministry of Education, Singapore Kindness Movement, City Chain, Asia Pacific Breweries, NTUC Income and Volkswagen among others win the hearts of Singaporeans with their heartwarming and compelling advertisements.

Last year, we added three professional awards on top of the public awards. A panel of illustrious judges from Singapore’s top creative agencies were chosen to select the Best Homegrown Commercial, Best Transmedia Campaign and Best of Show.

This year, we are adding new award categories to select the Best Print Ad (Single), Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy) and Best Out-of-Home (OOH) Campaign.

HOW IT WORKS
Qualifiers – Phase 1
For the qualifying period 1 January to 31 December 2014, advertisers who spend a minimum of S$150,000 nett on MediaCorp television channels are eligible to submit their television commercials for the Viewers’ Choice awards. Advertisers who spend a minimum of S$50,000 nett on MediaCorp radio stations, TODAY newspaper, MediaCorp publications or OOH platforms for the same qualifying period are eligible to submit their ads for the Listeners’ Choice award, Best Print Ad (Single and/or Creative Media Buy) and Best OOH Campaign respectively.

There is no minimum ad spend required to submit entries for Best Transmedia Campaign, however the campaign must include use of MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH media and at least one other MediaCorp platform to be eligible. The campaign must also have run on MediaCorp platforms between 1 January to 31 December 2014.

Entries submitted for Best Transmedia Campaign will automatically qualify for Best of Show, while entries for Viewers’ Choice, Listeners’ Choice, Best Print Ad (Single), Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy) and Best OOH Campaign will automatically qualify for Best Homegrown Commercial and Best of Show.

Finalists – Phase 2
The top 5 television commercials and radio ads as well as the top 3 print (single), print (creative media buy) and OOH campaigns will be shortlisted by a panel of judges from Singapore’s top creative agencies. The same panel will determine the winners for Best Transmedia Campaign, Best Homegrown Commercial and Best of Show.

The online and mobile app voting contest will be launched from 1 – 28 March 2015 with 5 finalists for Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice and 3 finalists for Best Print Ad (Single), Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy) and Best OOH Campaign. The public is encouraged to vote for their favourite commercials and advertisements during this period.

The winners of The Laurels 2015 awards will be announced at the awards dinner in April.

Viewers’ Choice
The winner of Viewers’ Choice receives a Gold Trophy and S$50,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and a full page full colour ad in TODAY newspaper.

Listeners’ Choice
The winner of Listeners’ Choice receives a Gold Trophy and S$20,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp radio stations.
The remaining 4 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and a half page full colour ad in TODAY newspaper.

Best Print Ad (Single)
The winner of Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy) receives a Gold Trophy and S$10,000 worth of print ad spend* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp publications.
The remaining 2 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 worth of print ad spend* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp publications.

Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy)
The winner of Best Print Ad (Creative Media Buy) receives a Gold Trophy and S$10,000 worth of print ad spend* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp publications.
The remaining 2 finalists each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 worth of print ad spend* to be used on TODAY newspaper or MediaCorp publications.

Best Transmedia Campaign
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.

Best Homegrown Commerical
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.
The winning media and creative agencies each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 cash.

Best of Show
The winning advertiser receives a Crystal Trophy and S$30,000 worth of airtime* to be used on MediaCorp television channels, radio stations, print or OOH platforms.
The winning media and creative agencies each receive a Crystal Trophy and S$5,000 cash.

*Valid for use within 3 months from the date of prize presentation and to be planned by the advertiser/media agency.
